- Urban and Community Forestry Specialist
Description
Deliver urban and community forestry programs and provide technical expertise and support to CSFS field offices and partners throughout Colorado’s Front Range communities. This geography includes the most populated urban centers in Colorado, from the Colorado-Wyoming border in the north through the Denver area to Pueblo, Colorado, in the south.
This position assists with community forestry projects (tree planting, inventory, canopy assessment, risk assessment, etc.), conducts trainings and workshops, maintains relationships with key partners, provides direction to arboriculture and urban forestry professionals, administers grants and contracts, and supports Arbor Day Foundation recognition programs such as Tree City USA, among other tasks.
The Front Range UCF Program Specialist operates out of Community Forestry Hub on the CSU Spur campus in Denver. This position is a staff member of the Communications and Communities Division of the Colorado State Forest Service. The division splits the state into thirds to provide services: this position covers the Front Range, while the other two UCF Specialists cover the eastern plains and western Colorado respectively
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or higher in forestry, natural resources, environmental sciences, landscape architecture or a related program of study
Four years of professional forestry experience, with specific experience in urban and community forestry.
